Punch Needling Tutorial

Punch needling is a rug hooking technique that makes flat, embroidery-like stitches on one side of the fabric, and rug-like loops on the other. It is used to make rugs, bags, wall hangings, and lots more! It's a very simple and quick technique which only needs a few materials:

The most important part of punch needling is the punch needle itself! We carry The Oxford Punch Needle, a beautiful maple wood tool. We carry 5 sizes and types of punch needles, depending on what thickness of yarn you'd like to use and the height of the loops you'd like to make. You can read more about that here.

You'll also need some monk's cloth, an embroidery hoop, some worsted or bulky weight yarn, and some scissors.
